Mandalay GH short of blood, donors wanted

The Mandalay General Hospital — the largest medical facility in upper Myanmar — is facing a 30 percent shortage at its blood bank. National Blood Donation Bank pathology department specialist Dr Khin Mya Mon said many blood donors were needed to ensure the hospital’s blood bank was at 100pc. She said they were appealing to the public to donate blood to the hospital, where many surgeries are conducted. “As the largest hospital in the northern part of the country, we get more patients. We also handle surgeries like heart operations and kidney transplants; and soon we will be doing liver transplants too.
